Teaching and Research

Teaching English as a foreign language

Teaching and Research - The two often go hand in hand. A short course acquiring classroom skills enabled participation in a project in Mexico’s “second city”, Guadalajara in 2006. The project was a three month period teaching English to teenage pupils in a secondary school, but also living with a Mexican family (a non-English speaking Mexican family!).

The learning was two way, and further visits led to research into Scottish involvement in a little known episode of history which Hector had accepted for publication in 2009 in “Scots” magazine
